Officials said one person was killed after the vehicle they were driving hit a utility pole Tuesday in Harnett County.

<b>LILLINGTON, N.C.</b> — Officials said a man was killed after the vehicle he was driving hit a utility pole Tuesday in Harnett County.

A trooper with the NC Highway Patrol told WRAL the single-vehicle accident happened at 3017 US-401 near Lillington. The trooper said the car hydroplaned and hit the pole while the driver was heading southbound.

The accident was still under investigation and next of kin was being notified so no additional information has been released.

Mykia Daniel, an eighth grader at Ligon Middle School, was shot and killed on Monday in a north Raleigh apartment. A 16-year-old was charged with her murder.
