One person dead, another injured in Edgecombe County house fire
The body of a person trapped in a house fire was found on Friday in Edgecombe County. Another person was injured in the fire.
Posted — UpdatedEdgecombe County firefighters and the Edgecombe County sheriff's deputies responded to a structure fire at 9032 County Line Road in Sharpsburg. When they arrived, they found a man outside with burns to his body. He told personnel there was another person inside the house who was trapped.
He was transported to UNC Nash Hospital in Rocky Mount for his injuries.
The home was fully engulfed in flames when officials arrived. After putting the fire out, they discovered the body inside the home.
The sheriff’s office along with Emergency Management and the NC State Bureau of Investigation investigated the scene of the fire. No names or further information was released pending notification of next of kin.
