One person dead, another hospitalized after crash Sunday in Sampson County

According to authorities at the scene, the accident happened on Basstown Road in Clinton.

Authorities said the driver was on her way to work in Dunn when she collided with an SUV. A witness said the SUV was "wrapped around a tree."

The driver of the SUV attempted to avoid another collision and collided head on with the woman. The driver of the SUV was treated by EMS at the scene.

Authorities said a passenger of the SUV is currently in the hospital.
