One man dead after bus accident in Alamance County

— The Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in Alamance County that involved an activity bus filled with high school cheerleaders.

The accident occurred around 7 p.m. Friday on Highway 70 near Edgewood Church Road, trooper said.
A portion of the bus, which contained cheerleaders from Gray’s Creek High School in Cumberland County, was rear-ended by a car. The bus had just made a tight turn and was partially on Highway 70.

The man driving the car was pinned in his vehicle and died at the scene. Officers have not released his name.

The bus was traveling to Eastern Alamance High School for a football playoff game. No one on the bus was hurt.
