One killed, three injured in two-vehicle accident outside Wilson

One person was killed and three others were injured after a two-vehicle accident outside of Wilson on Monday.

WILSON, N.C. — One person was killed and three others were injured after a two-vehicle accident outside of Wilson on Monday.

Troopers with the NC State Highway Patrol were dispatched to the area of NC Hwy. 42 and Neal Road around 6 p.m. They said an SUV was heading west on NC Hwy. 42 when it crossed the center line and struck a work van occupied by two people. Another vehicle following the work van collided into the rear of the van.

Officials said the person driving the SUV was killed. One person who was injured was flown to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville while two others were transported by ambulance to WakeMed in Raleigh.

NC Hwy. 42 was closed for several hours but was opened again Monday night.
