Newton Grove man killed, two others injured in shooting at party in Clinton park

Sampson County authorities are looking into a shooting that left one dead and several others injured on Sunday morning.

CLINTON, N.C. — Sampson County authorities are looking into a shooting that left one dead and several others injured on Sunday morning.

Deputies responded to a party on Veterans Lane in Clinton around 2:50 a.m. The sheriff's office said that a party was being held at the Kirtwood Park building and that three people were hurt in total.

One man, Kquadem Treyondus Parker, died from the shooting. Parker was 28 years old and lived in Newton Grove.

Another man, Jonas Highsmith, is in the ICU, but stable, according to the Sampson County Sheriff's Office. Another person was treated for minor wounds and released from the hospital.

Around 200 people attended the party, according to deputies. Most of the attendees left before deputies arrived. Investigators did not obtain a suspect description or chain of events that led to the shooting.

The case is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sampson County Sheriff's Office at 910-592-4141.
