One killed, one injured in Greenville shooting

A 25-year-old man was killed and a 23-year-old man injured Thursday evening in a shooting on Griffin Street, Greenville police said.

GREENVILLE, N.C. — A 25-year-old man was killed and a 23-year-old man injured Thursday evening in a shooting on Griffin Street, Greenville police said. 

Officers responding to the 600 block of Griffin Street about 9:15 p.m. found Willie Travon Smith and Deontra Deshawn Wilkes with gunshot wounds. Both men were taken to Vidant Medical Center, where Smith was pronounced dead. 

Wilkes was being treated Friday for gunshot wounds to the lower body and legs, police said. 

No arrests have been made, and police have not indicated what may have caused the shooting.
