RALEIGH, N.C. — A Raleigh woman was killed Friday morning when her car went out of control on Durant Road in north Raleigh, police said.

Deborah Brookshire Johnson, 60, was eastbound on Durant Road near Garvey Drive at about 8 a.m. when her Toyota drifted into an oncoming lane, police said. Johnson over-corrected and ran off the right side of the road, police said.

The car hit a tree, crossed a ditch and came to rest after hitting a second tree and a fence, police said. At some point, the vehicle caught fire, police said.
