One killed in Fayetteville hit-and-run

Police in Fayetteville took a person into custody Sunday night after a fatal hit-and-run.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A woman trying to cross Pamalee Drive in Fayetteville was killed Sunday after she was struck by an intoxicated driver who did not stop, police said.

Fayetteville police said Cynthia Beasley, 55, of 1124 Pamalee Drive, was crossing Pamalee Drive near the Blanton Road intersection when she was hit by an SUV driven by Elizabeth Lauren Robinson, 30.

Police said Robinson drove away, but officers found her a short time later at 3244 Green Valley Road.

She was charged with felonious hit-and-run, driving while impaired, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Robinson was held at the Cumberland County Detention Center on an unsecured bond.

Fayetteville police said the incident remains under investigation, and more charges may be filed.
