One killed in east Durham shooting

One man was killed late Thursday in a shooting in the 400 block of Melbourne Drive, Durham police said.

DURHAM – One man was killed late Thursday in a shooting in the 400 block of Melbourne Drive, Durham police said. 

Officers responding to the area at about 11:50 p.m. found Michael Lee, 25, of West Club Boulevard, dead in the roadway.

Witnesses told police that several men armed with guns broke into a nearby home, and Lee was shot during the home invasion. A resident of the home was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Lewis James Little, 19, of Kilarney Drive, was arrested at the scene and charged with one count of first-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree kidnapping, one count of felony conspiracy and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He was being held in the Durham County jail under a $1.425 million bond.

Investigators are still trying to identify additional suspects.
