Man arrested after 2 teens hurt, 1 killed in Kinston shooting

A man has been arrested following the shooting of three teenagers in Kinston. One of the teenagers, a 14-year-old, died.

KINSTON, N.C. — A man has been arrested following the shooting of three teenagers in Kinston. One of the teenagers, a 14-year-old, died.

The shooting occurred Wednesday night around 8:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Mitchell Street.

Malik Dyshaun Bryant, 24, of Kinston, was arrested and charged with an open count of murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder. Bryant is being held in the Lenoir County Detention Center under no bond.

Police could not release the names of the victims but said a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old are hospitalized at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. They were in critical condition as of Thursday morning.

The shooting remains under investigation.
