One hurt when small plane crashes in Pitt County

One person was hurt Monday afternoon when a small plane crashed in Pitt County, according to NBC affiliate WITN.

GREENVILLE, N.C. — One person was hurt Monday afternoon when a small plane crashed in Pitt County, according to NBC affiliate WITN.

The plane went down in a soybean field off N.C. Highway 43 north of Greenville, near the U.S. Highway 264 interchange, at abut 3:15 p.m.

Pitt County Emergency Management said two men were on the plane at the time, and one was taken to Vidant Medical Center with minor injuries.

No flames or smoke were seen coming from the aircraft.

The Federal Aviation Administration is expected to arrive Tuesday to conduct the investigation into the crash.
