— A 68 year old Burnet County man died on Sunday night and a woman was injured after the boat they were driving on Lake LBJ somehow collided with a concrete wall as they attempted to enter a cove leading in the area of a local subdivision.

Texas Parks and Wildlife officials did confirm to HCTX News that the incident happened late Sunday night. The driver of the boat was identified on Monday as 68-year-old Russell B. Bowman Jr. Witnesses say that the boat struck a concrete retaining wall near the cove entrance shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday night. A medical evacuation helicopter was called to the scene but was later cancelled as rescuers were unable to save Bowman.

The woman involved in the accident was treated and released.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Wardens are investigating the crash.
