One arrested, one sought in Durham shooting

A multiple shooting early Monday at Pinecrest apartments, 608 Hardee St., left one man dead and two men injured, according to Durham police.

DURHAM, N.C. — Durham police charged two people Monday in connection with a shooting at Pinecrest apartments, 608 Hardee St., that left one man dead and two men injured.
Officers were patrolling near the apartment complex around 3:10 a.m. when they heard several gunshots.

One man died from wounds and two others were transported to Duke University Hospital for treatment, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.

Police later charged Tracey Renee Elliott, 24, of Breda Lane in Creedmoor, and Roger Lee Evans, 25, of Midland Terrace in Durham, with murder.

Elliott was being held in the Durham County jail without bond. Police were still looking for Evans, who is known to frequent Bentwood Apartments on Junction Road.

More shooting details, including the identities and conditions of the victims, haven't been released.
