One arrested in shooting that left man dead on Fayetteville street

Fayetteville police took one of three shooting suspects into custody on Friday around 6 p.m. Joseph "Joe" Luther Lewis, 22, is a suspect in the murder of August Allen "Augie" Hosack, 71, who was found inside his 1994 Ford Taurus having bled to death on July 25.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville police took one of three shooting suspects into custody on Friday around 6 p.m.

Joseph “Joe” Luther Lewis, 22, is a suspect in the murder of August Allen "Augie" Hosack, 71, who was found inside his 1994 Ford Taurus having bled to death from being shot in the leg on July 25.

Lewis was picked up on Gavins Street and was being held on a $110,000 bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday.

Police are still looking for the other murder suspects, LaQuin "Shorty" Lamar Corbin, 27, and Amy Yarboro Collins, 35, who are wanted on the following charges: first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Corbin is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. His last known address was the 1300 block of Powell Street in Fayetteville. Collins is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. Her last known address was the 1000 block of Trade Street in Fayetteville.

Anyone with information on the on the whereabouts of Corbin or Collins is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-549-7326 or Crime Stoppers at 910-483-8477.

Fayetteville police found Hosack dead in his car at 4:50 p.m. on July 25. Officers were responding to a reported suspicious vehicle in the 500 block of Orlando Street.

Bob Hosack told officials that his father was taking blood thinners for his diabetes and bled to death from the gunshot wound.

Police still have not released information about what evidence led to the charges.
