Officials searching for man after possible drowning in Wilson

Search and rescue crews are attempting to locate a man who is believed to have drowned Wednesday afternoon at Lake Wilson.

WILSON, N.C. — Search and rescue crews are attempting to locate a man who is believed to have drowned Wednesday afternoon at Lake Wilson.

Officers with the Wilson Police Department responded to Lake Wilson, located at 4621 Lake Wilson Road, around 4:14 p.m.

At the scene, they spoke with witnesses who said a man went into the water and was overtaken by a strong current.

Crews continue to search for the man on Thursday, but officials said he has not been located.

Due to search efforts, Lake Wilson is closed to the public.
