PRINCETON, N.C. — The suspect who had been sought in connection with a hit-and-run crash Friday night in Johnston County that left a woman dead has been arrested, authorities said Wednesday.

State Highway Patrol Sgt. Christopher Knox confirmed to WRAL News that Jeffrey Williams was in custody but other details about his arrest were pending.

According to the Johnston County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened just before 5 p.m. at a home on Old Cornwallis Road near Princeton.

A trooper said the suspect fled the scene immediately after the crash.

His vehicle was located in Princeton, about two miles from the home.
