Officials find loaded gun in student's bag at Lumberton high school
Police found a handgun in a student's bag while conducting a random search at Lumberton High School on Friday afternoon.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — Police found a handgun in a student's bag while conducting a random search at Lumberton High School on Friday afternoon.
The gun belonged to a 15-year-old freshmen and was loaded with a full magazine, officials said.
The student was transported to the Cumberland County Juvenile Dention Center and was later released from custody, officials said.
Authorities determined he will be expelled from school for one year.
