Officers investigate fatal shooting near downtown Raleigh

A man was shot and killed Monday evening near downtown Raleigh, authorities said.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man was shot and killed Monday evening near downtown Raleigh, authorities said.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Bledsoe Ave., at about 5:40 p.m. in response to a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found Devon Demitrius Nowell, 28, with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other details have been released.
