Officer, man hit in Bojangles parking lot
A sport-utility vehicle entering a Bojangles parking lot struck a driver and Clayton police officer who were dealing with an earlier wreck Friday morning.
Posted — UpdatedCLAYTON, N.C. — An SUV entering a Bojangles' parking lot Friday morning struck a driver and Clayton police officer who were dealing with an earlier wreck.
It happened about 7:45 a.m. outside the restaurant at 11900 U.S. Business 70 West while Office K. L. Cook was investigating the previous wreck.
Clayton police said Patricia Whitaker Jones, 58, of 233 Dairy Road in Clayton, hit Cook and Daniel Gerald Blackmon, 37, and crushing Blackmon between Jones' vehicle and his pick-up truck.
Blackmon was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh, where he was being treated Friday morning for serious leg injuries. He was listed in serious condition Monday morning.
Cook was also taken to WakeMed, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
Jones was not injured. Police said the wreck is under investigation and that charges are pending.
