Rowland, N.C. — A police officer in Robeson County is out of the hospital after being assaulted on the job.
Officials say Rowland officer Michael Sale responded to a domestic call around midnight Friday. A man at the scene, who appeared to be drunk and was disorderly, refused to obey the officer and resisted arrest.
Police say Sale and the suspect got into a fist fight during the arrest. Sale ended up with facial injuries and was admitted to the hospital before being released on Saturday.
Jamel Alfonso Rogers is facing charges for assault, resisting an officer, kidnapping and other charges. He was being held on a $500,000 bond.
