Occupants escape vehicle fire in Raleigh

Several people on Saturday evening escaped a burning SUV in downtown Raleigh.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Several people on Saturday evening escaped a burning SUV in downtown Raleigh.

Firefighters said several people were inside the SUV when it caught fire at about 6 p.m. on the 500 block of Blount Street.

The occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

Firefighters said an electrical shortage sparked the fire.
