NYC-based Shake Shack opens in Cary

Shake Shack is set to open in Cary on Aug. 21, and excitement is already buzzing.

CARY, N.C.Shake Shack is set to open in Cary on Wednesday.

The New York City-based burger joint already has two Charlotte locations, but the new Waverly Place location marks the first for the Triangle. The popular restaurant is known for its burgers, frozen custard concretes and milkshakes and crinkle cut fries.

The Cary location will incorporate local eats into its menu, like the Pie Oh My concrete, which is blended with pieces of seasonal pie from East Durham Bake Shop. Better yet, a portion of Pie Oh My sales will be donated to Cause for Paws NC.

Other frozen custard concoctions include the Cary Cookie Crumble, which features marshmallow, cookie butter and crumbled sugar cone, and the Shark Attack, which is made with chocolate custard, fudge and chocolate truffle cookie dough.

Shake Shack will also serve wine and beer, featuring brews from the Mason Jar Lager Company and from Lonerider, Fortnight, Trophy and Aviator Brewing.

The 3,881 square-foot restaurant will feature an open-air design with outdoor seating. The tabletops feature wood from recycled bowling alley lanes and chairs will be made with sustainable materials.

Shake Shack currently has more than 230 locations in 26 state, according to a press release. Hiring for the Cary store is underway.

The doors will open at 11 a.m. on Aug. 21.
