Note in the Pocket, an amazing local group that collects and distributes clothing to impoverished and homeless school children in Wake County, is looking for high school students to serve on its teen board.

The group is looking for students in grades nine to 12 to serve on the board during the school year and participate in monthly meetings.

The board aims to encourage students who have a passion and heart for serving to become more active in local community service; develop community leaders; and support Note in the Pocket’s mission and program to meet the needs of Wake County students, according to its website.

The application is online now. The deadline is April 30. The 25 board members who are selected will serve from June to May.

Note in the Pocket's website has more information. The group is based in Raleigh.

Related, but unrelated: Note in the Pocket is a fantastic place to donate your used children's and adult clothing (because many middle school and high school students are wearing larger sizes). They are looking for gently used clothing that children and teens would need for a typical school day. Think jeans, leggings, athletic pants, T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, sneakers. They also could really use new underwear and socks that are still in their original packages.

Here is a list of its needs, according to its website.

Boys Sneakers: sizes: 5, 5.5, 7, 7.5
Boys Coats: sizes 14 - 18
Men's Coats: size small (for teenagers)
Boys long sleeve graphic T-shirts: sizes 8-14
Girls long sleeve graphic t shirts: sizes 12 and 16
Boys and Girls tops: 3T
Tennis shoes:
Boys: Sizes 1 thru 7
Girls: Sizes 1.5, 2,
Women: Sizes 6, 8.5, 10, 12

Men: Sizes 7.5, 9, 9.5

If you have these things in your closets, here's where to drop off the items for Note in a Pocket.
