North Carolina's Rural-Urban Divide
In 2017, the Institute for Emerging Issues asked thousands of people across the state to identify the biggest issues facing North Carolina. While many different issues surfaced, there was one common theme - people in North Carolina are feeling more disconnected than ever and they want to do something about it. So IEI launched a three-year initiative called ReCONNECT NC and this week hundreds of people convened in Raleigh to focus on reconnection between rural and urban areas. Director of the Institute for Emerging Issues, Leslie Boney, joins us to talk about what they've learned so far. Later in the show, our guest is Wake County School Board member Keith Sutton, who shares some news about his future plans.
