Police Chief Greg Hughes is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation, Norlina Mayor Dwight Pearce said Wednesday.

<b>NORLINA, N.C.</b> — Police Chief Greg Hughes is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation, Norlina Mayor Dwight Pearce said Wednesday.

Pearce declined to comment further, citing personnel confidentiality, so it's unclear who is conducting the investigation.

Hughes was appointed Norlina police chief in December 2017.
