YOUNGSVILLE, N.C. — A fire at a factory in Youngsville drew plenty of attention Friday afternoon when explosions resounded from aerosol cans bursting outside the building.

Members of the Youngsville, Franklinton, Wake Forest and Louisburg fire departments contained the blaze at 360 Northbrook Drive, site of CaptiveAire. The company makes ventilation systems for commercial kitchens.

Workers left the building before firefighters arrived, just before 11 a.m. The fire was out by 11:40 a.m.

People working nearby reported hearing the explosions and seeing heavy smoke. The firefighters battled the fire from the outside, while a sprinkler system put out any flames inside, a spokesman for the Youngsville Fire Department said.

He said the fire could have been started by an electrical short, but the official cause has yet to be determined.

No one was injured, and the company has not yet estimated the cost of the damage from the fire.
