Less rain, more sunshine in the forecast for this weekend

A dense fog advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Saturday morning. If you are driving early Saturday morning in areas west and south of the Triangle, watch out. Visibility is down to a quarter of a mile or less. Slow down if you are driving in these areas.

RALEIGH, N.C. — There's a chance for showers Saturday afternoon, but expect mostly sunny skies this weekend.

It will be steamy due to a stationary boundary to east. It will spark moisture in the atmosphere that you will probably be able to feel today, meteorologist Peta Sheerwood said.

Our highs for the day are in the mid 80s to 90s.

Scattered thunderstorms are also possible throughout the day. Overall, there is only a 20% chance of rain today and there will be more sunshine than Friday.

As we head into the night, our rain chances will decrease. Tonight is expected to have dry conditions move in.

Sunday will be drier still with a chance for a stray shower. Highs will be in the upper 80s in Raleigh and close to 90 degrees south of the Triangle.

7-Day Forecast

Next week will be warmer, Gardner said, and two tropical systems expected to make landfall in Texas and Florida by Monday or Tuesday could bring cloudy skies to the area.
