RALEIGH, N.C. — With a high around 95 degrees, Sunday shattered a heat record set back in 1941, and it looks like more records will be broken this week.

According to WRAL meteorologist Peta Sheerwood, Tuesday will be hot, with a high in the upper 80s, but it won't be the hottest day of the week by far.

Heat records could be broken on both Wednesday and Thursday, will be unusually hot for October. With heat indexes in the triple digits, Wednesday could feel as hot as 100 degrees, and Thursday could feel like 102 degrees.

Wednesday's high is forecast at 92 degrees, while the record high for the date was 91 degrees in 1986. Thursday's high is forecast at 95 degrees, while the record high for the date was 91 degrees in 2002. That record is very likely to be shattered, as it could get as hot as 97 degrees in Raleigh.
