WCNC reports nearly a dozen police cars responded to a west Charlotte neighborhood Tuesday evening after a woman was assaulted outside and inside her home.

Medic and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers were called to Markland Drive, off West Boulevard, where an incident report states a woman was struck and strangled by a suspect. The suspect then broke into her home and strangled her a second time, in front of children.

The woman suffered minor injuries, including bruises and scratches, and refused medical treatment from Medic.

Neighbors described the area as typically quiet.
