Final two US soldiers identified in deadly Kuwait attack

The Department of War announced the deaths of two Army Reserve soldiers who died on Sunday during Operation Epic Fury in Kuwait.

Officials said Major Jeffrey R. O'Brien, 45, of Indianola, Iowa, died during an unmanned aircraft system attack.

Officials also identified Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan, 54, of Sacramento, California, as the second person believed to have died during Sunday’s attack.

Marzan was at the scene in Kuwait. Officials said positive identification will be completed by the medical examiner.

Both Marzan and O’Brien were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, Des Moines, Iowa.

Officials said the investigation is still ongoing.

The announcement comes as the Pentagon identified four U.S. soldiers who died during Sunday’s operation.

They died Sunday when a drone hit a command center in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, just a day after the U.S. and Israel launched their military campaign against Iran. Iran responded by launching missiles and drones against Israel and several Gulf Arab states that host U.S. armed forces.
