CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Authorities in Charlotte are investigating after a 7-year-old girl was shot in the leg by a stray bullet at a roller skating rink.

Capt. Michelle Hummel said officers were called to the Starlight Roller Rink after two men got into an argument just after 5 p.m. Saturday. One man pulled out a gun, which went off.

The girl was shot once in the right leg just above the knee by the bullet. She was in stable condition at Carolinas Medical Center. Hummel said the girl didn't know either of the men.

Police arrested 21-year-old Todd Houston Saturday evening in connection with the shooting. He was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon and simple assault.

Houston was being held Sunday in the Mecklenburg County jail under a $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to be in court Tuesday.
