FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A man was charged with second-degree murder in the death of a fellow resident at a Cumberland County rest home.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said Levi Montgomery, 69, died at Countryside Villa, halfway between Wade and Godwin.

His body will be sent to the state Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill to determine the cause of death.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said deputies have issued a warrant for Mencie Grimes, 60, on a second-degree murder charge.

Investigators said the men became involved in an argument shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday that became violent.

Tanna said Grimes was being treated for minor wounds at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Deputies expected to arrest Grimes after he is released from the hospital.
