Winston-Salem man charged with killing wife

A man has been charged with first-degree murder after his wife was found dead in their Winston-Salem home.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man has been charged with first-degree murder after his wife was found dead in their Winston-Salem home.

Police told the Winston-Salem Journal that 25-year-old Tosha Barr died a short time after she was cut or stabbed early Saturday morning.

Investigators arrested Travis Lawan Barr, 34, 34, of 1206 E. 23rd St.

His mother said the couple had a troubled marriage and were living apart.

Travis Barr was awaiting a bond hearing. It could not immediately be determined if he has an attorney.

Barr has twice been convicted assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, according to state Department of Correction records. He was released from prison in 2003 after serving 10 years for those crimes.
