State lawmakers are ready to start the redistricting process.
Posted — UpdatedBy Laura Leslie
The U.S. Census Bureau will deliver North Carolina's census tract numbers to state lawmakers early next week, officially kicking off redistricting season in Raleigh. The detailed population data is the raw material legislators need to start redrawing the state's 120 House, 50 Senate, and 13 congressional districts.
The first Joint Redistricting Committee meeting is tentatively set for Tuesday, March 1st. For more about how it works, who's on the committees, and what to watch for, check out our new Redistricting page.
