The North Carolina Board of Elections has confirmed Americans Elect as a political party for this fall, according to the state board's general council.

The party, which submitted more than 80,000 signatures to the state board earlier this week, received its official certification today.

American's Elect is using an online nominating process to determine who its candidate for president will be this fall. As of today, congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has the most support among participants, according to the American's Elect website.
