Charlotte Democrat Tricia Cotham said today she's interested in running for Superintendent of DPI if incumbent June Atkinson doesn't seek a third term.

"If there is a vacancy, I will run," Cotham said.

That's the same position Fayetteville Democrat Rick Glazier has taken.  He and Cotham would battle each other in the May primary.

On the Republican side, Wake County School Board member John Tedesco said today{{/a}} he'll decide after the holidays whether he'll run for Superintendent. Two other Republican candidates are already in the race - Cary Republican Ray Martin and Monroe Republican Richard Alexander.
