WITN, WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Representative Don Davis secured over $54 million in federal funding for North Carolina's 1st District. Davis said this will go towards strengthening infrastructure, public safety and developing communities in eastern North Carolina.
The money was granted through Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Funding, according to a press release.

The following investments were made into eastern North Carolina counties:
- Tarboro: $1,092,000 - Upgrades to wastewater treatment and reduce nitrogen runoff into the Tar River.
- Hertford County: $1,092,000 - Expansion and improvement of infrastructure for further development.
- Greene County: $1,015,000 - Provide senior citizens with housing and community resources.
- Bertie County: $2 Million - Build a new emergency communications center, and buy new equipment, machinery and supplies for first responders.
- Williamston: $1 million - To build a new firetruck.
- Ahoskie: $606,000 - Equipment and vehicles for first-responders.
- Hertford County: $386,000 - Technology for Sheriff's Office, including car cameras and new computers.
- Williamston: $250,000 - Street re-pavement and downtown revitalization.
- Washington: $1 million - Upgrade local medical center with new equipment and technology.
- Seymour Johnson Air Force Base:$41 million - Replace its deteriorating combat training and maintenance facility.
