A Coats police officer has been arrested after he was accused of shooting a man while trying to take him into custody.
Ricardo Sylvester Anderson, 50, was arrested by the State Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

According to SBI officials, Anderson was accused of shooting a man while attempting to take him into custody at a Speedway convenience store on North McKinley Street in Coats on November 28, 2025. The man was taken to WakeMed for treatment; his condition is unknown.
Officials said a Harnett County Grand Jury indicted Anderson on Monday, charging him with one count of assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury.
Anderson is being held in the Harnett County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond. He is expected in court on Thursday.
