Got to Be ... surprises for me

Got to Be...

Got to Be NC has plenty of food, fun, and music, but it's got a lot of the unexpected as well! Here are six surprises I found when I visited on Friday.

The Christmas tree in the Expo Center -- It's not even June yet; I am definitely not thinking about the winter. But as soon as you walk by that Fraser Fir and take a deep breath, the air will seem a little crisper and you may just hear sleigh bells.

Carolina Camel Rides -- I knew about the petting zoo. I did not know about the camel rides. One hump or two?

Not one, but two pink tractors -- One's up by the Dorton Arena and the other one is down in the carnival area.

The house built out of part of a California redwood trunk -- It only costs a donation to walk through this three room home made from part of a gigantic redwood trunk over seventy years ago. If you're over six feet tall, watch your head leaving or you may get a souvenir bump.

Odd sheep pictures - Carolina Fiberfest includes the "Sheep Incognito" show, an exhibit/sale of several sheep allegories and/or puns.

The seating area in the flower exhibit shaped like a trowel -- I have been coming to the North Carolina State Fair for HOW many years and never noticed that one of the  seating areas in the flower exhibit is shaped like a trowel? I guess there were never few enough people around for me to get a look at it...
