Attend fair, help hungry

Thursday is the annual Food Lion Hunger Relief Day at the N.C. State Fair when four cans of food can earn you free admission and plenty of good karma.

Last year, fairgoers donated more than 174,000 pounds of canned food to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. It is the largest one-day canned food drive in the state.

Plan to bring your cans to any fair gate for free admission Thursday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
