If you've been to the exhibit halls, you know you can pick up a pamphlet of the 2007 winning recipes for the various cooking contests. What you might not know is that the Fair folks are already putting up the winning recipes for this year's contests at http://www.ncstatefair.org/2008/competitions/speccook.htm .
Winning recipes from the Pea-nutty Vegetarian Main Dish Recipe Contest, In Your Oven Casserole Recipe Contest, and Make it with Malt-O-Meal Contest contest are already available. (Be sure to click on the first-place winning recipe, because for the first few contests that link will lead to a press release with recipes for all the winners.)
Congratulations to Gail Fuller of Raleigh! She won first place in the Make it with Malt-O-Meal Contest and the In Your Oven Casserole Recipe Contest, and second place in the Pea-nutty Vegetarian Main Dish Recipe Contest. Sondra Bass of Durham is also on a winning streak, winning first place in the Pea-nutty contest and second place in the In Your Oven contest.
Keep an eye on that page for more winning recipes, since cooking contests continue until the end of the Fair. I'm getting hungry ... that Baked Chicken Enchiladas Casserole sounds really good...
