Girl Scouts Going to the Fair to Earn a Patch

The Girl Scouts are offering a Home Grown in North Carolina Patch, and one way to earn it is to attend the NC State Fair.

Yes, you will see a lot of kids at the Fair concentrating on riding rides, winning prizes on the midway, and eating as much funnel cake as possible. But you may also see some kids wandering the fair with pens, paper, and calculating expressions. That's because the Girl Scouts are offering a Home Grown in North Carolina Patch, and one way to earn it is to attend the NC State Fair.

Among the possible Fair activities for earning a patch are visiting a youth livestock show, interviewing a Fair employee or volunteer, and entering an item into competition at the Fair.

Want more information on the patch? You can get a handout at PinesOfCarolina.org. You can also go to the information booths around the fairgrounds and ask them for information on the Girl Scout patch requirements.

It's always great when you can have a fun time and learn something, too...
