Hey, two weeks from Friday, it's Friday the 13th. But it'll be a lucky Friday -- it'll be time for the Fair! The folks at the Ag department have been very busy updating the Fair's Web site with some additional information about new features and old favorites.
Multimedia heads who haven't caught the Fair commercials yet, you can download radio and TV versions at http://www.ncstatefair.org/2006/Sights.htm#radio. If you just want an overview on what's new, visit http://www.ncstatefair.org/2006/9-06ReadyForFair.htm. Highlights include a crew of wooden boat builders who will be building a boat during the Fair -- that'll be near Heritage Circle. There's also building on the new Midway that'll host Red Cross and emergency services as well as more bathrooms.
And in case you missed it, Military Day will be Wednesday October 18. Active-duty military personnel and up to four family members will be admitted free with military ID. Special activities are planned for that day, including equipment displays and military band performances.
