Food Values at the Fair

Posted Updated

It's true; if you want to get inexpensive food you don't go to the Fair. But it's the Fair; you don't go expecting to get $1.50 turkey legs and $2 Italian sausage.

But I realized yesterday that there's one place where the Fair is a real value, and that's breakfast.

I started off this morning with a good breakfast at Sunrise United Methodist (one of the restaurants in the permanent building across from Dorton Arena.) I had the special, which was grits, eggs, ham, sausage, biscuit, and drink. It was $4.50!

That was a big ol' breakfast for $4.50. In fact it compared nicely to IHOP's special breakfast except that you don't get pancakes. I don't like pancakes anyway...

The comparison to breakfast food and everything else was brought home to me later that afternoon when I got a large ice tea from a vendor near the midway. It was $4.
