Three cheers for Food Lion Hunger Relief Day! Yesterday fairgoers SHATTERED the record for Thursday Fair attendance -- over 103,000 people headed out to the Fair yesterday, beating the previous record of 96,904 set in 2000. Way to go! Food Lion hasn't announced the amount of food donated, though the company has already donated over 2 tons of food to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina to kick off Hunger Relief Day. I'll update this entry when I get the numbers for yesterday's donations.
