American cellist Yo-Yo Ma stopped by a library in Davidson County on Wednesday.
The world-famous cellist is currently on tour, but made a stop at the Thomasville Public Library. City officials said in a post on Facebook that he discussed the “challenges and triumphs” of local library service, the impact of their free community programming, and what makes Thomasville “such a special place.”

“Our deepest thanks to the prodigious Mr. Ma for his kindness, generosity, and genuine interest in the heart of our community. What an extraordinary honor,” a post by the city of Thomasville read in part.
Ma also signed up for his own library card during his visit to and even treated staff to a live performance.
