Alice Mozingo, charged with drug trafficking
FOUR OAKS, N.C. — The former director of a Johnston County drug and alcohol treatment center has been arrested on drug-trafficking charges, authorities said Monday.

Alice Faye Mozingo, 62, of Four Oaks, was charged with four counts of trafficking and one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, manufacture or distribute.

Police said Mozingo's daughter, Lisa Mozingo Shallington, 35, of Smithfield, posed as a representative for a Benson physician and called in prescriptions for morphine, hydrocodone and Xanax to a local pharmacy. The pharmacist checked with the physician and determined the call was a hoax.

Mozingo, the retired director of the Day by Day Treatment Center in Selma, was arrested when she went to the pharmacy to pick up the drugs.
