A woman is seriously hurt after a shooting at an apartment complex off Danube Lane in Durham.
The Durham Police Department told WRAL News a suspect is in custody. Officers responded to reports of a gunshot wound at Magnolia Pointe Apartments off Danube Lane near Hebron Road around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said officers found a woman who had been shot. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Durham police are asking anyone with information to contact police.
This shooting is the second to happen at this apartment complex in Durham. On Jan. 11, 2025, Durham police found a 15-year-old boy with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.
In response to this January shooting, Mayor Leonardo Williams said that he's "gone from sad to just mad as hell. I'm really frustrated."
Williams has recently come under fire from some of his constituents about the crime happening in the city, specifically involving children.
That's why last week, he announced a three-phase public safety initiative designed to curb a recent surge in youth-related shootings through national partnerships and local collaboration. The plan emphasizes community-driven "street safety teams" and a series of listening sessions.
But during the conference where he was announcing this plan, it was cut short by frustrated residents who shouted questions at the mayor.
One man said in attendance said, “There is nothing for kids to do in Durham. Kids [don’t have anything] to do but get in trouble.”
