A meteorologist, Elizabeth Gardner, we had some showers and thunderstorms overnight. Thanks to a boundary that's lingering across our area. Those are long gone. But this afternoon, right after lunchtime, we could see a few more isolated showers and thunderstorms developing along that boundary. Most of what we would see would be south and east of the triangle area. You could see that boundary sitting there right through the middle of North Carolina. Let's follow that on futurecast as well. That boundaries just sitting there. Once we get a little bit of heating into the atmosphere this afternoon, we start to warm things up, there's going to be enough energy for just a few isolated showers or thunderstorms. There's three o'clock notice that the coverage is minimal. We may see some additional cloud cover, but the potential for rain is pretty slim through this afternoon and this evening. But um definitely worth a mention just in case you happen to see an isolated shower or even an isolated thunderstorm wouldn't be totally out of the question. Uh, breezy conditions again this afternoon, looking at winds uh currently heading out the door around 5 to 10 MPH. Winds are out of the southwest. So we're definitely seeing that warm air continuing to hang around our area. We may see some gusts this afternoon anywhere from 10 to 15 MPH, but the wind shouldn't be too strong today. Highs will be in the mid eighties, 84 in Raleigh, 85 in Durham and Fayetteville under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Again. This afternoon, we'll start to see the clouds filling in just a bit. And boy, our muggy meter is climbing. The dew point is 62 now and is likely to stay there. We may drop it back down into the comfortable zone tomorrow. It'll be a hot day in the upper eighties but a little bit more comfortable with the, the dew point or the, the uh amount of moisture in the atmosphere. But boy, that really climbs on Saturday and Sunday, but Saturday and Sunday also look fairly wet. So that makes sense. Our normal high 77 we're above that all the way through next week. We have warmer than normal temperatures with highs in the eighties. Check in that seven day forecast 84 for today. A few isolated showers or thunderstorms in our southeastern counties. After lunchtime, Saturday and Sunday, that rain is going to be more widespread, scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening. And there may even be some rain in the mornings that potential for isolated showers and thunderstorms continues Monday and Tuesday. But we definitely need the rain. It was a very dry April.
